Purina Pet Food Recall: The Products Affected
Types of Purina Pet Food Recalled Throughout the recall process, only two types of Purina pet food were recalled. Mighty Dog wet dog food pouches were the first Purina pet food recalled, and the affected packages were dated from November 8, 2006, and March 14, 2007. Another Purina pet food recalled soon after was the ALPO Prime Cuts in the 13.2 oz. and 22 oz. sizes. To find the codes of the affected products in the ALPO line, you can log onto the Purina website and look for the page of Purina pet food recalled. Or you can check the FDA website at www.fda.gov for more information as well. Since the Purina pet food was recalled, Purina has further tightened its already stringent quality control guidelines to ensure that there will be no additional problems with its pet food products. They have also added pages to their website about Purina pet food that was recalled, as well as more information about why the food was recalled and why the problem will not repeat in the future. In fact, this summer, Purina plans to stop purchasing wheat gluten from China, which was the ingredient that was at the source of all of the trouble with so many pet food manufacturers. Purina also now tests all wheat gluten for melamine and cyanuric acid, which were the ingredients found in the Purina pet foods recalled. While the pet food recall was an unsettling and unfortunately sad event for some pet owners, it appears that the problem with the pet foods has been identified and effectively eliminated. When it comes to the Purina pet food recalled, pet owners can rest assured that Purina has taken the appropriate steps to avoid any problems in the future. |
