    A Dog Owner’s Guide

A lot of pet owners often complain about their dog’s uncontrollable behavior and find themselves at a loss as to how to properly teach their highly spirited canines some manners. The inability of dogs to learn simple commands such as ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ can crucially become a major problem in the future with the possibility of your once pesky pet to become a family pest or even worse a neighborhood nuisance. Hence, it makes it all the more imperative for dog owners to teach their precious pets obedience lessons before its too late.

Obedience training, in essence should not be treated as a means to teach your dog to do fancy tricks or perform competition exercises. The main premise of obedience training is to simply teach obedience and basically teach them to follow simple commands. Before anything else, family should be carefully inculcated to your dog, as this will vitally ensure harmonious cohabitation for years.

While other pet owners prefer to send their dogs to obedience classes, any dedicated pet lover can actually do this at the comforts of their own home. This will provide more time for the pet and the owner to bond and improve their communication skills. Obedience training basically requires a healthy dose of patience, a collar and a leash, lots of sense of humor and a keen understanding to the natural dog behavior. For people who never had any prior experience with raising dogs, it might be more helpful to read books about the particular breed they own to fully grasp the pet’s behavior.
