Hypoallergenic Dogs
With such condition, it's no wonder that thousands of people who love to raise and own pets in the United States alone are looking for the so-called "hypoallergenic dogs". The good news is that hypoallergenic dogs are now available for these people to consider. However, it is important to note that these dogs are only capable of reducing the reactions of pet allergies. The term "hypoallergenic", on the most basic, means "reducing allergic reactions in the allergy sufferers". Thus, the hypoallergenic dogs cannot totally eliminate the symptom of allergies, but they can help to reduce it. So if someone tells you that she got a dog that eliminates all the allergy symptoms, then think twice. "Non-allergic" dogs do not exist. There are two types of hypoallergenic dogs. The first is composed of the single coated dogs, while the other is composed of the hairless dogs. The single coated dogs are hypoallergenic dogs for the reason that they do not have a thick undercoat which is capable of carrying allergens. This single coat does not shed, but persists to grow like the human hair. On the other hand, the hairless dogs are hypoallergenic dogs for the obvious reason that they do not have hairs. But, this hairless nature doesn't actually mean that they do not carry allergens. Fact is, the allergens can be stored on the dogs' dander or the skin scales, but they are hypoallergenic for their dander also shed. Now, what breeds of dogs are hypoallergenic? Well, there are actually a number of hypoallergenic dogs, but to give you enough idea of what to take, I have mentioned below only a few of the most popular hypoallergenic dog breeds. If you are thinking of buying one as a family gift, then consider the following: Poodle: The Poodles are hypoallergenic dogs for they only feature a single curly coat. They appear so elegant and come in medium to large size. They can be easily groomed and are so loyal to their masters. Havanese: The Havanese, by nature, are smaller dogs with long tails and dark eyes. Their body is covered with a single coat that highlights silky hairs. Just like the poodles, the coat of the havanese appears curly or wavy. Their hairs are also short, making them hypoallergenic. Chinese Crested: This breed belongs to the hairless hypoallergenic dogs category. It is hairless, except for its tail, feet and head. However, because of their being hairless, the Chinese Crested dogs are more prone to injuries than the other breeds. But, being hypoallergenic, playful and sweet, the Chinese Crested can make a good companion for kids. There are a lot more breeds of hypoallergenic dogs aside from those mentioned above. If you want to find the best one, contact a professional dog breeder or dealer for he or she can help you find the perfect choice for you. |
