Thinking Of Adopting Labrador Retriever Puppies?
Facts About Labrador Retriever Puppies Labrador retriever puppies are small, fluffy, and cute, but they will grow up to be large dogs. An adult male Labrador retriever can grow to be more than 2 feet tall and weigh around 80 pounds, with the adult females being slightly smaller. Labrador retrievers can be quite strong and need to be trained early to ensure that they will listen to their owner and not pull away when being walked. Labrador retriever puppies are very energetic and eager to learn, so the early the training is begun the better. Basic obedience commands are learned quickly and are retained easily by these intelligent animals. Labrador retriever puppies thrive on attention from their human family and will grow bored and destructive if left alone for long periods of time. As they grow, they become very loving and devoted animal companions with a very sweet and gentle personality. It is because of their personality and protectiveness towards their human family that many families with small children choose to adopt a Labrador retriever. Labrador retrievers love small children and sometimes designate themselves as the child's protector, alerting the parents if the child is about to get into trouble. Because Labrador retriever puppies are highly intelligent, they are frequently trained for use in police work, search and rescue teams, as guide dogs for the blind, and as service dogs for disabled individuals. A lot of work goes into caring for Labrador retriever puppies. The coat of a Labrador retriever, whether it is yellow, chocolate, or black, has dual layers. The outer layer of the coat has straight short hairs that are very dense, while the inner layer is soft and weather resistant. The coat of the Labrador retriever sheds constantly and must be brushed regularly with a firm bristle brush to avoid matting and tangling in the inner layer of the coat. Labrador retriever puppies also have a large amount of energy and needs their owner to provide a great deal of exercise to keep them healthy and happy. A Labrador retriever can only be happy in an apartment dwelling if the owner provides plenty of opportunities for exercise and are not left unattended for long periods of time. |
